Florida's second racing series of the year, the 2009
Summer Series begins with local racing on August 1st. This
series is a 'total points' series. The more you race, the more points
you can earn. All tracks around the state will hold a Double
Points race on either Friday, August 14 or Saturday, August 15th.
Riders are encouraged to race both days at nearby tracks to pick up
even more points! A pair of Triple Point races are scheduled for St.
Cloud BMX September 19-20, and another pair at USA
BMX in Riverview on October 10-11. This year's Summer Series
Championship race will be held at High
Springs BMX on November 14th. This race will also be Qualifer
#1 of the 2010 Florida State Season. Qualifer #2 will take place
the following day, November 15th at the same location. Come out
and be a part of the season that puts the fun back in racing.

Cape
Coral BMX had a lot of fun with the Father's Day racing on
Saturday, June 20th. There were 30 dads who raced with 16 "NBL
Dads"
racing and 14 "True Rookie" dads. Both groups had 3 motos, a semi
and
a Main. For the "NBL Dads" the results were: 1-Tim Peters,
2-Brian
Callahan, 3-Guy Gibbs, 4-Carlton DuPre, 5-Bob Murray, 6-Chris Giuliano,
7-Kevin Blank and 8-Gary Kompinski. For the "True Rookie" dads
the
results were: 1-Luke Claremont, 2-Darryl Shipley, 3-Joe Funk, 4-Mark
Matthews, 5-Vince Favazza, 6-Chance Naylor, 7-Robert Sangmaster, and
8-Charles Thornton.
Cape Coral BMX THANKS all the dads for
supporting
the BMX kids and helping to make BMX a GREAT family sport. See

Important Information
For
Those Attending 2009 World Championships

Hello
Everyone!
Many questions are being asked from riders attending this years World
Championships in Adalaide, Australia. Riders and parents should know
that we have everything you need to know posted on the USAC BMX home
page or you can just click the following link: https://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=4080
The most common question right now concerns the TravMed Insurance. This
is a MUST have insurance that you need to have to participate in this
World Championship event. The cost is minimal at $3.00 per day. Please
go to this information page to read the explanation for this insurance.
Greg Cross from the USAC has posted a letter explaining...
Re: TravMed Insurance
Explaination
I know there has been some confusion regarding the forms and insurance
requirements for the 2009 BMX World Championships in Adelaide,
Australia. I would like to explain in greater detail why USA Cycling is
requiring all athletes competing at the Worlds to purchase TravMed
Abroad insurance.
The TravMed Abroad insurance is mandatory to ensure a minimal level of
coverage for all athletes traveling and racing abroad under the
organization of USA Cycling. The policy may fill gaps in an athlete’s
personal insurance coverage and also covers that individual during
competition and or racing (something many other insurance policies
exclude.) Additionally, some hospitals require up-front payment of
medical expenses for non-residents and visitors. When possible, TravMed
Abroad protects the traveler by making direct payments to physicians,
hospitals, and the organization handling evacuations. Requiring the
purchase of TravMed Abroad is the only way USA Cycling can ensure that
an athlete has a certain level of coverage during international
competition and it provides excellent benefits with minimal cost.
TravMed Abroad insurance is not purchased through USA Cycling but
rather through a company called MEDEX that specializes in worldwide
insurance products. They market a range of insurance products but have
specially designed one for USA Cycling Athletes that covers accidents
that occur during international competition as well as general sickness
and injury. A description of the plan created for USA Cycling can be
found by clicking here.
In order to get this unique plan, you must call 1-800-732-5309 and
specifically mention that you are a USA Cycling BMX Athlete. The
coverage is provided at a discounted rate of $3 a day and must begin
the day you depart on the trip and end the day you return home. It must
cover the entire trip and not just racing days.
Once an athlete has purchased the insurance coverage by calling
1-800-732-5309 and mentioning USA Cycling, MEDEX will email an
insurance card to that athlete. Please print that card as proof of
insurance and include a copy of it with the forms sent to USA Cycling.
Without TravMed Abroad proof of insurance and the other required USA
Cycling forms, you may not be able to compete at the 2009 BMX World
Championships. All forms are due by June 20th, 2009 and should be
mailed to:
Gregory Cross – BMX Worlds
210 USA Cycling Point, Suite 100
Colorado Springs, CO 80919
If you have additional questions on TravMed Abroad or anything else,
feel free to contact me at 719-434-4232 or gcross@usacycling.org.
Sincerely,
Gregory Cross
Director of Logistics and Operations
In addition, the the "Official Team USA Jersey" has been released. Here is what it looks like!
Any other questions please email myself at brianfell@bellsouth.net. We
are looking forward to another exciting year at this years World
Championships!
Thank you!

Well, another State Season is in the books. They
seem
to go by faster and faster every year. They are fun though and always
make for some good times. Our team is awesome and this season everybody
pulled through getting their locals in and receiving the ranking that
they truly deserve.
The State Championship race was held at Sarasota BMX. The track has a
great reputation for being both fast and somewhat technical. Their rep
wouldn’t let us down, however a lack of air-time was clearly evident.
The racing was heated though non the less. Friday’s practice was cut in
half by the isolated thunderstorms that rolled in sending everyone
packing and back to the hotels. The SSA was able to have one more
session later that night, but I couldn’t tell you how it was, PTP and I
were back at the hotel making a banner for the front of the tent. Yeah,
last minute stuff is the WORST! We got it done though, along with a
trip to the “Flag Man” we were ready to go on Saturday.
Ahhh, Saturday morning... For the record, I hate to get up in the
morning and a 6:45 wake up call is never good. Combine that with the
fact that someone stole the poles that we spray painted the night
before and left to dry in the dumpster and it was a frustrating drive
to the track. The only good part was getting to park next to the
trailer where team canopies were supposed to go... But that is a whole
other topic! The race itself was going to be a big one, after all it
was the series finale. Sure enough it was with 196 motos. We were also
fortunate enough to have it go out live on go211.com, maybe you saw it?
If not look for the re-broadcast or look for it in their archive
sections.
As I stated earlier, it’s a good feeling knowing that your team has
come through with flying colors. When everything was said and done we
came home with some serious hardware. CJ McGuire was on fire
all day long not losing a lap until the main when carnage occurred in
the first turn relegating himself and fellow title contender Tyler
Faoro to the pavement. CJ got up, but had to settle for a 6th and Faoro
an 8th. Tyler would get the #1 plate and CJ would have to settle for
the #3 plate. CJ was able to bring home the big check though winning
the money series. Raul Gomez has been on a mission this year.
His goal is to regain the titles he vacated a few years ago. Well, his
mission is half over. He took home the wins in both 20” and cruiser
giving him the #1 plate in both. He is clearly the man to beat in the
Sunshine State. Cory Watts and Petey Peters have been
the 1-2 punch in 19-25 Expert all year long and Sarasota was no
exception. They finished off the season the same way they started going
1-2 in the main. Cory actually got his locals in this year and is
rewarded with running that big #1 on his bike next year. Petey on the
other hand will add a zero onto his plate. Living in Georgia, it’s hard
to get your locals in and he will be running the #10 plate. Bryan
Kipp had another up and down day in 15 Expert. His gates continued
to be his down fall. If he could get a handle on them, nobody could
catch him. He finished second on the day and second for the series. Tucker
Rice destroyed the 11 Expert class winning everything and
completing his perfect season! 11-12 Cruiser wasn’t the same story
though, Tuck got second for the day, but had to settle for the #4
plate. You can bet your bottom dollar that he will be on the hunt for
that #1 again next year. Although Dean and Perry DeVido didn’t
make their mains, they still had a good time and were able to bring
home the #13 and #16 Plate respectively. Jeff DeVido made his
main scoring and eighth place giving him the #7 plate for the year.

For the first time ever in Florida state history,
the
Intense/ Dyna Pep Team finished #1 in both the money and the trophy
team series.
"The sun was shining with rain on tap for the semifinals, but that
didn't slow down the racing at the state of Florida’s Championship
race. With just under 200 motos, it is always the biggest state race of
the year. The individual and team competition was ferocious, and Team
Intense/ Dyna Pep held off a strong charge from the Profile Racing
camp. Pro Girl Amanda Geving and Ole' Darin Houston ran
near the front
all weekend, but perfect final laps came from Justin Riddell,
16
X, and Geoffry Banser, 15 X, in their main events to
catapult
Team Intense/ Dyna Pep to their first ever money team title.
Also, Team Intense/ Dyna Pep had to break a multiyear team championship
run that had been held by Force Racing to become the undisputed winner
in the Trophy Team competition.
The team is sponsored by only the finest products and would like to
thank:
